The Necessity And Significance Of Studying Nominative Sentences From A Contrastive Perspective
Keywords:
nominative sentence, nominative construction, contrastive linguisticsAbstract
This article examines the necessity and significance of studying nominative sentences from a contrastive perspective, with particular attention to English and Uzbek. Nominative sentences are characterized by their structural and semantic specificity and occupy an important position in the organization of discourse. The study identifies the principal structural, semantic, functional, stylistic, and pragmatic features of nominative constructions in the two languages. The contrastive approach makes it possible to reveal both universal tendencies and language-specific patterns in the formation and use of such sentences. Particular attention is paid to the role of context, intonation, communicative intention, information structure, and stylistic environment. The article argues that a systematic comparison of English and Uzbek nominative sentences contributes to a more complete understanding of sentence structure, facilitates translation and foreign-language teaching, and provides a methodological basis for further comparative and typological research.
