Harmonizing Cultural Diversity And Universal Moral Values In Bioethics
Keywords:
bioethics, cultural diversity, universal moral normsAbstract
This article examines the relationship between cultural diversity and universal moral norms from a bioethical perspective in the context of globalization. It explores how cultural and religious values shape differences across societies in attitudes toward human life, personal autonomy, the family, confidentiality, reproductive technologies, transplantation, and genetic interventions. It argues that shared principles, including human dignity, the protection of life and health, nonmaleficence, justice, and informed consent, establish the fundamental ethical boundaries of bioethical decision-making. The article highlights the significance of an approach combining a universal ethical foundation with cultural adaptation in reconciling cultural particularity with universal values
