Phraseological Units And Their Russian Correspondences In Uzbek Crime Fiction

Abstract

The paper examines Uzbek phraseological units and their Russian correspondences drawn from a parallel corpus of Tohir Malik's crime saga Shaytanat. Working within the correspondence typology of V.N. Komissarov and A.V. Kunin, the study sorts the units into full equivalents, partial equivalents, phraseological analogues, calques, and descriptive and lexical renderings. Somatic and animal-based idioms carrying pronounced national colouring receive close attention. The analysis shows that analogues and descriptive renderings prevail where the source image lacks a Russian counterpart, while full equivalents stay rare and cluster around units of shared cultural origin.
